In August of 1979, we became an Independent Insurance Agency located in Lawton, Michigan.

The Agency was incorporated in 1980 in the State of Michigan as SOUTH MICHIGAN INSURANCE AGENCY, INC., SMIA and we moved into our new location at 130 N. Main Street, Lawton, Michigan.

Today the Agency is doing business as DONALD E. THORNTON INSURANCE AGENCY and SOUTH MICHIGAN INSURANCE AGENCY.

The Agency´s insurance experience total over 100 years. We are a multi-line insurance agency representing several fine insurance companies.

We write insurance for personal and business for auto, home, commercial property, general liability, farm, Life and Health Insurance, at competitive rates.
